Default Mobil "5000" dino oil opinions

Has anyone tried Mobil dino oil? I'm currently using Castrol and curious if non-synthetic Mobil is any good. Afterall, it's 40 cents cheaper per quart.

It's probably okay, although personally I think synthetic is about 1,000 times better than any dyno-based blend. There are numerous reports / studies on this.

Which oil is best? Now there's a can of worms! I've come to the conclusion it's ones preference.Dino or syn.? Again, to each his own. Ive gotten a lot of info from Bob is the oil guy .com.,And an ongoing debate on offshoreonly.com. (a boating site) Just a tip.

Btw, I figured out Mobil's little marketing scheme. The 15,000 oil is their original mobil 1 synthetic, 7500 is the blend, and the 5000 is just their old mobil "drive clean" dino oil.

I was curious if anyone has tried the latter and could compare it to other dino oils. Thanks.

Mobil is a good oil. I used to run it in everything. Its better then castrol. Mobil stays cleaner longer. Its just my opnion, but that is what I have expierenced first hand.

at 17.75 for 5 quarts of Mobil 1- and 2$ for gas... (Ok in Cinci today 2.29 for premium) use better oil. Less friction will save you on fuel costs. I guess I'm cheap.

Oh, so the fact that Quaker State has teflon in it has no significance? Trust me, there is some difference between dino oils. I was just simply curious if someone had past experience with it. Thank you.

Upon further investigation...mobil discontinued 15-50 "mobil 1."

The only 15-50 oil offered by mobil is "mobil 1 extended performance," which costs ~5.50 a quart!

Lame. Back to castrol gtx...

Wait, quaker state has teflon in it?
Bad idea...
I remember reading the summary of a study, stating that teflon molecules are too large, and when they heat up, and become larger than a lot of clearances in an engine or something like that, which will actually lead to increased engine wear?...
