Well, the numbers are changing due to the fact that the Turbo radiator is longer than the NA radiator. This means that the NA guys that committed, unfortunately have to drop out because I only sent a Turbo radiator to Griffin. But, the good news is that more turbo guys are on board. Heres the latest count:
Bill
Tom M'Guinn
Special Tool
Macnewma
IEATV8s
OneOff951
Dan87951
dlgranison
cas951
So we are back to 9 and need 1 more turbo guy/gal. And don't give up just yet NA guys, if we can get more NA commitments and a NA radiator to send to Griffin, I will try to arainge to include you guys/gals.

Ok, the count for turbo radiators is ten, so far. I think I will keep them separate and will start a new effort on this board for the NA guys/gal to share in this great buy.
So the count for NA radiators is four.
Jake944CS
Jim944S
Father2Nate
Manning
Again, if I can get ten or more and someone to pony up a NA radiator, I am sure that I can get Griffin to manufacture an NA radiator for the same great price. Keep raising your hands NA guys/gals.

That is a good deal at $365. I bought the copper & brass rad that Perfromance Products has been selling for 10 years or so. It's been in my car for 8 years with no trouble at all, but was $400 back then! I was careful to be sure it was isolated electrically because of electrolysis concerns (aluminum being anodic to both copper and brass). I said the hell with it after the 3rd aluminum/plastic unit went bad (cracks in the plastic tank at the crimp). If I didn't have this already, I'd certainly be in on this group buy.
This was my reasoning which prompted me to contact Griffin. And my efforts to get them interested in making their product for our beloved 944's. Griffins product will dissipate heat much better though, as aluminum conducts heat better than copper does.

Bill,
This was a great idea - thanks for your efforts.
I'm very interested in this, and want to get onboard. However, I do have just one question. Is the turbo radiator the same across all model years? Mine is an '87, so I want to be sure that this radiator will fit.
Thanks in advance...

simmomi,
According to the Porsche 944 parts catalogue, there is only one part number for all 944 turbos. So yes, the radiator is standard for all years. The same applies for NA radiators (albeit, different part number for the NA vs. the turbo radiator). I will count you in for a radiator on the turbo board. This puts us at 11 turbo radiators.
Just a note: My own personal goal is to order the turbo radiators by Friday 3/18. I will at that time, use the final number to negociate our best price. As far as the NA radiators, I will let you NA guys/gals guide me.

Stephanie,
I need to check my parts book to see if the 924 and the 944 NA use the same radiator. I will do this before I count you. I will let you know. Anybody?

Doug,
Since this is not yet a group buy (need more NA commitments and blessing by John D) I have not yet worked out the fine details. Things like final price, payment, delivery dates will be worked out when this group buy firms up. Since my car is in garage jail until I get a new radiator, believe me, I will push for the fastest delivery date possible. Just remember, Griffin is a major manufacturer of radiators, so usually you have to get just get in the proper place in their line.

Jake944CS
Jim944S
Father2Nate
Manning
mybaby924s

i have an 83' 944 na and would be interested in the na group buy, pending final price. i am a college student so the money doesnt flow as it would if i worked 40 hours/wk. after shipping etc. i would be in for under $500 if possible. $365 would be phenomenal if we can get it that low.
thanks

Just a word of caution:
According to my PET 5 program, there are at least two different Turbo radiators:
The early Turbos 1986-1988 use part # 951.106.031.02
The late Turbos 1989-91 use part # 951.106.031.50
The 86-91 NAs and S (not S2) use 944.106.031.03
The 89-91 S2 use 951.106.031.03
The early NAs use 944.106.031.01
And the automatic transmission models have different radiators again...
So just make sure what you're delivering, everyone can use. I'd hate to see a group buy go wrong. Messy.
