Looks like that cage didn't hold up at all. Any more pics? Is that the autopower bolt in?

Passing on the right is ok for DE in some situations. Passing in a corner is the big no-no. So this looks more like a race to me. That or some DE where the passing rules are different than anything I’ve ever seen. If it’s a race, accident = racing incident = tough luck

Truth is a 20sec video doesn’t show me enough information to form a reasonable opinion about the situation and/or specifically who was at fault. The 911 does “look” kind of bad though . .. probably why this is in the 944 forum : rolleyes:

Nope. When you're racing or even at a DE, repairs are "no fault."

Don't forget guys, this occured in Europe, not the states. It may be racing or simply an open track day. I also doubt Europeans would use an Autopower cage. They have plenty of bolt-in cage builders over there. Most of them are FIA homologated too.

I'm no DE or Race expert, but doesn't it seem the 944 was going way slower than the 911? Maybe the 944 hit the brakes, and the 911 swung around him, and tapped him by accident?

Nasty crash though. The 944 engine sounded nice before the accident.

THAT sucks!!! The 944 looked like he was doing what he was supposed to, he moved to the outside as soon as he was out of the corner. The 911 went really wide!

Those darn air cooled cars!!!

Rumours have it the 944 probably lost a little front end grip, and let off the throttle to not go off the track...and the 911 came too fast/wide to avoid him. I think it's the RoadSport class, being run in Norway/Sweden...unless someone else know something I don't.

That is the first Porsche I ever drove. It belonged to a friend of mine. He raced what we call "Roadsport" in Norway. It is supposed to be a "gentleman's" race series, but there have been some accidents lately.
My friend and the airhead worked everything out amicably.

It's sad to see these pictures. This is the car that first sparked my love for the marque. The owner also had a 911SC, but after driving both I decided to get a 944.
Anyways, the 944 was fixed up. The rear part of a donor car was welded onto this one.
It's is currently alive and well living with it's current owner, another PCN member.

So what happens when they do those vintage races in the US, with classic cars? It seems like trading paint is not contemplated, wanted, or expected in those races.

Are you saying that any conduct whatsoever on the track is OK, because it's under the guise of racing? I could understand the true accident or close case, but this looks pretty egregious to me.

More proof that the 911 guys just dont like us...
lol...conspiracy!!!

Yeah, looked like a shady move on the 911's part, but it's so hard to tell from one angle and only 20 seconds of film. At any rate, glad to ehar everything got worked out.

DIBS ON THE WHEELS! STILL GOT THE WHEELS??? haha.
