From: Central Illinois. Cornfields a plenty.
A little duct tape for the seats, some rattlecan white (Oh paint the wheels too!!) 4 good used 14" tires and it's good as new.
I really like the EQ under the dash- VERY 70's. Are the switches in the console for the ejector seat?
You GOTTA video tape this trip.. sounds like a GAS!

UPDATE:
Well these wild and crazy guys came and picked up the car today - the madness starts. I did what I could to make the car tolerable to sit in / drive in for them, but. . . well. . . you see the pics. There's only so much a wash and oil change can do. As of the departure, here were the known "kind-of-working" / non-working items:
- Heater "kinda' working" - the fan runs, but on the lowest possible speed only. They think they can fix it before getting to cold northerly latitudes. . .
- Radio "kinda' working" - it does turn on and tune in stations, but it does not emit any noise until that bad *****' equalizer under the dash is turned on. At this point one of two things happens, (1) it plays normally or (2) it emits the loudest, most ear-splitting static noise you've ever heard in your life until you turn it off.
- Tires - balding. Badly. I hope they get new ones. They won't last more than 1,000 miles I'm guessing.
- Windshield wipers - working (although the blades are shot, hopefully they can not get into precipitation until new blades or Rain-X enters the equation)
- Lights - "kinda' working" - I went to turn them on last night and the doors opened but the lights didn't turn on. Uh oh. Re-cycled the switch and the lights came on as normal. Whew! Hopefully that's just a "been sitting too long" glitch and not an impending electrical fire or explosion.
Whatever happens from this point forward is BOUND to be interesting. I'm dying to know the details of this journey. . . I hope the old girl makes it to a good new home and proves herself worthy of restoration. But that remains to be seen. Hopefully our fearless sojourners will post some updates soon. . .

HOLY MACKERAL! They left CA in THAT headed for Boston?? WOW!! I hope you left them the jumper cables (and a AAA card, a VISA and some good shoes!!) I can't wait to see the film.
My first $$$ spent would be on seat covers, THEN tires.

They did mention getting seat covers. I actually tried to talk them out of it and told them to use common sense (like bringing enough warm clothing and food to survive a few days stranded in a blizzard somewhere). They're grown up and can take responsibility for their own actions though. . . Who knows? Maybe it'll just prove how durable these cars are if they go the distance with NOTHING going wrong. Kind of doubt it though.

Well, they only picked up the car this morning and were heading out directly after taking a few photo op. pictures at the beach. I offered them any assistance I can provide until they get out of LA, but I imagine they're exiting the basin right about now. I wish 'em well.

Dunno what they brought - they didn't have time to discuss it and wanted to just blast off right away (and I had to get to work). They seem like a couple of nice guys, I just hope nothing bad happens to 'em.
