Default Turnbuckles for belts

OK so I'm almost finished getting every thing back together. The problem I'm having is breaking the bolts on the turnbuckles. Both are off of the car and I can't get them lose.
The one for the power steering is just hosed! PO had no luck with the vise grips so that one will be replaced. The alternator turnbuckle is just frozen. I tried liquid wrench, WD40 then took it outside for some torching still no luck. I had 2 wrenches on it and stood on them and NADA.

I'm ready to just order new ones butI want to get this thing running by Saturday.

Same exact problem here... except mine aren't broken. I just can't put my new accessory belts on because I can't jet the jam nuts loose (new belts are slightly different lengths than the old ones). I've tried WD-40, PB Blaster, propane torches, hammers, flare nut wrenches, bench vises, vice grips, channel locks... you name it. I'm almost ready to buy brand new turnbuckles to avoid the hassle of dealing with it.

You guys probably know this, but...one of the locknuts is reverse threaded (left to tighten, right to loosen. These things are a be-otch to loosen, I broke on of the p/s eyebolts because the locknut was so frozen.

Had the same problem, if you've already tried heating them (remembering to heat just the nut you're trying to loosen) I don't think there is much else to do. That worked for me, but it was still an ordeal.

OK I used the double vise grip stand on it till it breaks free technique and got both of them lose. I also found extra nuts to replace the ones I mangled.
Almost all back together!!!

The AC adjuster isn't cheap ($65 or so) and neither is the power steering ($35), but for the hassle factor thats involved, especially if a PO cheezed the thing up, new is the only way to go. I just got a set from Paragon for my '87 951, its soo much better than fighting with the old ones.

Regards,

I'm waaaaay ahead of you.

I was lucky enough to only damage the retaining nuts, so everything went back together very easy. But I think one of those spare nuts were supposed to hold the turnbuckle in place. Gotta go the the spare motor for more parts
