Palm Springs
I just put in an application for a job near Palm Springs, CA. Coachella actually. At this point, I have no idea whether I'll accept the job if it's offered to me. Are there any rennlist members in the Palm springs area? More importantly, are there any good 944 mechanics?

WOW, I am surprised that NO-ONE had replied to you! That's kinda wierd. As Palm Springs is relatively Southern CA there are a large # of shops. You may wanna check out the San Diego PCA http://www.pcasdr.org/home/index.html or Riverside http://www.pca.org/riv/home.html
Not sure which one Palm Springs fits into. Most likely Riverside.
You may also wanna catch up with Randy the moderator in the 928 group as he is from SD and may have some suggestions. Good luck with the job hunting Thurston944

Is this a Summer job or permanent deal? Summers in Palm Springs are Africa Hot in the 105-114 range consistently. Winters are when all the rich folk return. There are some very expensive dealerships there. I'm sure there is more than one good Porsche mechanic. Good Luck on the possible job.

Thanks Michael.
KuHL, this would be permanent. I lived in Twentynine Palms when I was younger, so I know what the summers are like. I don't think it's much worse than humid midwestern summers, but maybe it's just been too long since I spent a summer out there.
I'm lucky to have Bob Farmer (Farmer Automotive) here in Indy. He really knows 944's and 911's, a hell of a lot better than the dealership guys or anyone else I know of. The idea of taking my car to a very expensive dealership is kind of scary. I don't think most of them really know what they're doing with 944's and they're way overpriced.

I was raised there. Its hella hot there in the summer(125+_ degrees; 95 at night!). My friend Scott Plaza is about the only Porsche trained mechanic there. He runs German Auto, in Palm Desert. If you cant find him try locating Fred Castillo, in Cathedral City too. He is the Bosch/BMW/Porsche/MBZ guru. Sorry I dont have numbers....
