Is there any good reason to remove my airbag wheel?

You guys can say all you want about air bags... My son would be DEAD if it were not for his air bag.
A dump truck turned in front of him about 1 1/2 year ago... He was doing 60 MPH.
Was hard on the brakes and impacted the side of the rear tire at an estimated 50 mph.
It totaly destroyed his 2000 eclipse. He snapped his femur from the impact (he was standing on the brake, knee locked when he hit)
He was knocked out and doesnt remember much after that, he was cut from the car.
No other injuries other than minor abrasions. When we went looking for another car, air bags were top on the list, My daughter's car also.
Do I believe in seat belts and AirBags ???
