Default Oil pan gasket replacement needed?

Hello everyone!

My oil pan started leaking last week after I replaced the gasket about 3 months ago. It was torqued correctly so I think the gasket just didn't seat properly or slid around.

Anyway, I am about to order the oil pan gasket retainers from MySwiss and I was wondering if I could re-use the gasket? It's just 3 months old and it seems the retainers would prohibit any gasket squish.

So, can I use the old gasket or should just pony up the $50 for a new one?

Thanks

FYI: for those who don't know about these, here is the link!

Try retorqing it- (note drain the oil first) back all the bolts off and do the 3x retorque sequence to the spec. If it still leaks- it has compressed too much and time for a new gasket.
This can be done with the crossmember on- get a feel for each torque setting and duplicate on the 2 PITA bolts above the crossmember with an open end.

I used blue loctite on the oil pan bolts when I did the gasket- no bolts have backed out and I have developed no leaks in 2 years (knock on wood.....)

Be quiet Pete...

Well, I have to take it off anyway. I think the source of a mysterious buzz that comes and goes may be in the pan itself (Baffles?)or the pick up tube.
I ordered the retainers to make the reinstallation easier, but I am debating on whether it is neccesary to replace the gasket since the retainers actually keep the gasket presed in thereby reducing the possibility for leaks.
I would just hate spending another $50 bucks on a gasket if not needed.

True- the only time they really leak is when they bulgeout of the mating surfaces- the retainers would make that an almost zero possibility.

I guess I was really lucky on mine- but I took a LOT of time doing the torque sequence. Finger tight 2x, 2Lbs rest. 4lbs rest. then to final setting and recheck twice. Maybe 5 hours.

It went a little like this...
Torque, rest an hour. drink 2 beers. recheck torque rest an hour, drink 2 beers. check again, more beer. Start next torque setting...... Repeat until you pass out at 14FtLbs or case is empty.

Well...I guess dropping the pan might not be all that bad then!

Note to self:
Stop by package store - CHECK!
