Default Santa Barbara 944 mechanic help

My son is attending UC Santa Barbara and having some problems with his 944 at school. I'm looking for a competent mechanic in or around the area who won't try and take advantage of him. He describes a loud clicking noise when he accelerates with the car in gear. It doesn't happen when the clutch is engaged and isn't tied to engine speed. I'm guessing it may be a CV joint problem, but since I'm in the SF Bay Area, I haven't seen the car. It's an 86.5 944 5 spd. If anyone can help with a trusted mechanic, I'd appreciate the help.

Thanks,

Paul M.

Call Danno. Well, maybe not call (I'm not going to put his phone # on a public forum like this), but just go to the homepage for Guru Racing - his e-mail contact information is there. Either that or you can send him a PM through here.

His name isn't Max is it? I helped that kid with some random cut-out problems and changing brake-pads. We swapped out the DME relay and waiting to see if it dies at the same frequency.

Anyway, have him send me an email, my phone's out this weekend.

excellent mechanic, porsche expert, all around good egg. he fixed my car when i was in a bind during one of my west coast trips, as recomended by porsche owner friends in the area.

Dannos a great guy too and knows his stuff as well. both are great options.

Yep, Joe Scheider and his staff are competent and honest people. I use them too, when things get a little "overwhelming" for me.
