Thanks everyone, very generous comments. The paint isn't really as nice as it looks in these pictures. She's a "5 footer". Up close you can see the rock chip acne and the keying on the left rear is obvious in that one closeup...sigh. But I'm trying. Don't even get me started abouthe left rear!
I doubt I will go through with the snubnose mod. I keep thinking of it, but I like originality. Yes, I know my full polished 16" PD's aren't original. But I like them just the same. I only wish Fuchs fit my car. I'd have full polished like Carl Nall's car - now THAT is an awesome NA. His is the "look" I aspire to.
Mr Avionics (Bill) I might take you up on those parts for mounting the rear bar. I HAVE some already mounted on another bar...but I'm not sure what I've got? I'll post a picture tonight and maybe you can tell me what I am missing. The new (ahem) rear Koni's raised the car slightly. I liked the look of the rear squating as it was. I know how to adjust it, but what about the front when I put Koni's up there? What is recommended to bring the front down slightly? Maybe 1" or 1-1/2" - no more?

Andy, I had Al Reed Polishing, Anaheim, Ca do them. I can't recommend him enough.
No, I did not opt for the clear anodizing. Al advised that it would last more or less indefinitely with it, but it would reduce the shine by about 10%. I went for the extra bling and sorta-kinda regret it. Polishing them is only about every three weeks per Al with the polish he recommends - I probably do it every month or so. It is tedious, and your fingers get a little black, I just wonder if I'd be happy with them less permanently less shiny?
P.S. His wife does the handpainted center caps.

I would go for the clear coat.
How much did you pay to have the wheels polished? Would it be more expensive with the clear coat? I'd like to get some 16" PD's, and polishing is a cool option!

Thanks Cory. A big compliment from you. From what I've seen your car is gorgeous...and your brother's ain't too tough to look at either!
As to the price for polishing. I had to refer to the receipt so here it is:
Repair bent wheel - $75
Strip refinish and full polish $200
Polish and detail original center caps - $60
Strip and polish lugs - $20
Dismount and remount and balance tires and wheels $40
So that totals $320 if you don't have a bent rim - this was a year ago. The seller didn't know one of his rims was slightly bent, so it was buyer beware and I had to eat it. I think Al's prices have gone up a little so expect maybe $75 to $100 more overall.
But still, if you are local he provides loaner wheels. And it was one stop does it all because I had tires drop shipped from Tirerack so everything was new. There is no point in considerig doing the lugs yourself or trying to lower the price much. It is what it is so figure $400 and you'll be right near the price.
I love 17" Cups and almost went that way but didn't want the weight. I like originality as I have said. Phonies aren't the greatest wheel by far, but they are period correct and in the long haul I think they enhance the car....props to you that have updated though.

Kenny, Actually, I agree with you... I am not a big fan of PD's either. As I said, I WAS going with 17" Cups but I installed an FRWilk chip and thought it made a nice little improvement. I didn't want to negate it with heavier wheels, so I compromised with 16" PD's.
The BEST looking PD's are the deeper early offset rear 16's on '86 951's (I think). If I could have that offset in a 17" PD - THAT might be a very good looking wheel. Anyone have the Photoshop chops to make one up?
A variation on that would be the ones I saw here (somewhere) with anthracite (darker) centers and fully polished lips. If my car were black, gray, or silver I would have definitely gone with that look. Those, as I described in 17's would be killer beautiful. Thoughts? Photoshop guys?

Thanks for the compliments Dan. About the alarm... eventhough it's kinda lame it still has the starter kill on it. I would really recommend using it. They may be able to steal your radio but they can't steal the car!!!
