I'm curious about the suspension on my early 1983 944. If I push down on the rear of the car, there is movement, about 6" up and down. If I push down on either front fender there is very little movement. Stiff, I'd say, very. Is this normal on an unmodified car? Thanks,

Hm. I dunno about the suspension. I would guess "no, its not normal," but who's to say. Maybe the shocks are sagging and so the car is already compressed up front? Any spring experts around?

It is the springs holding the car up, if the car is soft the shocks are bad. Are you sure the shocks in teh front has not been replaced? There should still be movement but fresh shocks settle directly.

My shocks are stiff like that too. rides nice thought. Horrible gravel ride and over texas gate's the car feels like its going to fall apart.. Is this normal??

Sounds like my car. I would say yes.

My car had fresh shocks 20 K kms ago and the front is very stiff compared to the back so I think its normal.

I had my MO30 Konis rebuilt about 5,000 miles back and they are very hard at the front. They were re-valved to original spec. The car really doesn't like uneven surfaces now and has developed all sorts of sqeaks and rattles in the cabin. Only option is to drive it like I stole it.....which is fine by me
