Me too! (Actually, I'm one of the track-tech co-chairs for NNJR-PCA). We set them to 96-98 when we check lug nuts at the trackside tech.

There may be an 'official' difference, but 96-98 works well for both alum and steel lug nuts.

AND: Check your lug nuts throughout the day if you're playing on the track! We've seen some lug nuts loosen throughout the day - we've even seen a couple come off on the track! You don't need to check ALL of them during the day, but checking one or two per wheel 1/2 times a day at the track is good practise.

I take only my wheels to shops, yes you should back the torque wrench to zero for storage, and I retorque all lugnuts between each run session at the track.

Yes, you're correct, although in this case my forgetfulness would've worked in my favor (had I noticed it). . .

I need to find a long 1/2 inch 19MM socket for my torque wrench (yeah I have a torque wrench, dont drop dead). I just want one socket. Where should I go? All my 19MM sockets aint long enough to get inside the bolt tunnels.

UDPride: I got mine at a small auto supply / hardware store. Sears doesn't have a 6-point 19mm deep socket (only a 12-point), and Home Depot doesn't have them either separately. It seems that the 19mm 6-point deep socket is the holy grail of all sockets!

If you have troubles hunting one down, let me know - I can get one for you.

Sears will have em, ask for a 19mm deep socket, preferably with six sides if its for the alum lugs nuts. You could also buy an impact 19 deep. their strong (the black ones)

EDIT: Just saw Z-mans post. i bought my 6 side at sears, though its an impact socket. UD, just buy the impact 19 deep socket. It should be six side, and not more then like 7 or 8 bucks i dont think.

I have to go to Sears tonight - I'll look for one (or two). I have to exchange my latest busted Craftsman part (gotta' love that lifetime warranty!). 1/2" to 3/8" drive reducer - snapped it. Good thing I had a spare though.

I have a normal 1/2" drive 19mm socket that fits the lug nuts just fine. I throw an extension on there so I don't bang my fenders when I tighten/loosen the lug nuts.

Do you have taller-than-normal lug nuts or something?...

I dunno, the 930 lugnuts are deep inside the holes on the BBSs. Can hardly see em. I just use my metric lugwrench to pop em off because its long. Im pretty sure I dont have a 1/2 inch 19mm though, just 3/8.

I bought some cheap new torque wrench on ebay for about $20. you dial it in on the handle then i guess its supposed to "break" when you pull past the torque setting.

Looks like I'll be stopping on my way home to Sears as well.
