Need a block
I stripped down my '83 2.5L NA on saturday to find that all of the cylinders have bad scoring and the #1 cylinder obviously had something bouncing around it in for a while. That block is pretty much toast unless I bore it out and then get oversized pistons which I believe have to be custom made. Unfortunately I can't afford to have the block bored and have custom pistons made right now so I need another block. I'm looking for a good block, preferably one that has been spec'd and is close to if not within the taper limits. I don't really need the internals at all but if that is how you want to sell it I guess I'll end up with spares. If you have a block you would like to sell please post the year, mileage, condition and location.
Thanks

There is a junk yard here in Agusta, GA with a motor, I just took the gage cluster out of the car. The guy told me the motor was good when it got there. OD had 115k on it. I could do some investigating for you.

I have a good one that I swapped out of a car for someone. I had a slight knock that I didn't want to try to repair. I'm better at swapping out!!!
Dosn't have the head on it and one of the pistons has a mark where it looks like someone dropped a small bolt in there. Make me a offer with you paying the shipping.

I may have exactly what you want. I have two blocks, an 85.5 and an 88, both stock.
The 88 was used for a race car in which #2 rod bearing got damaged. it is in perfect condition - the rod bearing started to go and we shut her down before much damage occured. It hasall the things you need, like the main bearing cradle, balance shaft covers, etc that were machined before the motor was assembled. I also have 88 pistons and the crank and all the other jazz (oil pump, shafts, you name it) if you need. It ran three races before the problems started. Caused by a bad oil pressure relief valve.
The 85 is an assembled motor without head that I used for about 4 races. In very good shape, all new bearings, rings, seals, etc. I prefer to keep this as a spare, but can sell it if you are interested (and build up the 88 for a spare!).
Write if interested. i need to unload a few things from the basement.

The 88 motor only has the spring style tensioner, you are still supposed to check the tension with these tho. The 968 I think was the only with the hydraulic, not sure on the S2?

Patrick thanks for the offer but right now there seems to be enough members with motors that I don't see the need to trouble you to look at that motor.
Todd, what year was that motor? mileage? Did the clyinders take any damage from the stuff bouncing around in it?
Timo, how much do you want for the '88? '85? I assume the '88 was built up before it was raced so all the bores were spec'd and were within tolerances?

would love to upgrade but right as of now it's out of the budget. I've only got $1600 to get the car running which includes new tires and other suspension repairs I have to do.

I have an engine that is probably all good. We bought the car assuming it had a broken belt but after the swap and sex change it was all good and my suspicion was that the DME relay had gone bad. If you still need one make me an offer.....
