Default check engine oil light on

Hello all,

I have been away for a long time... Work, House, Dating, general life stuff... Anyway, I have a question. My engine oil light came on recently. Oil is where it should be, I even changed the oil and still the issue remains. It is not always there, and sometimes goes away if i do the ol'e ignition off / reset, so I am thinking the sensor or some wiring took a dump on me. Any aditional stuff I should investigate? I got another day to work until I am off and can start poking at this issue. I have neglected the poor girl for too long, so I think some maintenance and more rennlist time is about do. Thanks in advance,

bump...

I am expecting this to be a sensor, but hopefully there are some other things you guys can suggest before I get a chance to get dirty on this project. It is a 968 engine in a 88 944. I'm not expecting anyone to know how my wiring was done, just that some of you might have some insight on other general areas I can inspect. Thanks,

The wire should have a yellow covering and runs foreward to the front of the motor. It then goes across the top of the water pump and into the harness. From there it comes out through the 14 pin plug at the brake booster and jumps to the car harness. I'd trace it first. Good luck

I had that problem. My mechanic went in and diagnosed a bad switch. So a new one was ordered from a Porsche dealer ($150). But the problem disappeared before the part could be installed...in diddling with it he just probably ended up fixing some minor grounding issue. I would just go through the whole circuit and clean it up before doing anything else.
