Crutchfield Stereo Wiring Harness
Does anybody have experience with this?...
I am planning to install my alpine deck in the 87 951 I just bought, and I know that the wiring has not yet been decimated. I do not wish to be the one to cut any of the original wiring, and this sparked my search for a wiring harness.
This is the only one I have found so far. It's been a while since I've looked at the radio wiring, but where do the 4 smaller round connectors go?... I don't remember any plugs like that.

I have the Crutchfield adaptor on my stock wiring. The round connectors go to each speaker wire terminal. If you dont have flat "clips" at the ends of your speaker wire that can go to the round connectors...your wiring has been messed with at some point.

In my 86, all of the connectors were cut off, and I thought they were all left in the cubby, but I guess some had been lost?...
If there are clips for them, then I'm sure my 87 will have them. The factory radio is still in it, and has never been removed. I'm only changing it so I can use my MP3/CD player
Thanks for the info. I'll be ordering it when I get home tonight (not on a secure connection right now).

I bought the wiring harness and had a few issues.
My 86 had the fader control, to which all of the speakers were connected. Simply disconnect the speakers from the fader and use them to plug into the harness. You will have two unused connectors from the fader control (because it took two sets of inputs [front left, front right] [rear left, rear right] and combined them into two outputs [front] [rear]). Determining which plug is which should be easy.
The challenge I had on the harness, and it was really an oversight on my part, was that the power connectors did not match the car and I ended up having to flip flop some of the pins in the harness around to make it work. A little work with a multimeter made it obvious what was going on.
Other than that the harness was well worth the $15 or whatever.

Agree with what's been said early. Crutchfield has a custom kit for most of our cars. They had one for my '89 when I upgraded to an Alpine unit this last summer. I was very happy with the results.
