That begs the question, if the 924 brakes were adequate on the 951, why didnt Porsche use them on it!

NO just one, but I thought that the engine had a spun rod bearing, that is what the PO told me. When I took it apart I found that the bearings are fine, in fact, in amazing condition. I will delete the second, thanks.

I never said that those brakes were adequate for the 951. I said that the single piston brakes were used on the 937, which is a much lighter car.

I don't know if what you are asking is fair for that particular motor, but for $3k, I could easily rebuild the one in my car, and the same is the case for anybody else looking for one?...
I am getting ready to possibly rebuild mine, and I estimate the cost at around $1000-$1500.
Now, yours does come with a pretty much new clutch, and some head work, but the inside of the head looks pretty dirty given the mileage, how was it running?...

I never ran it in a car. I took it out of a car and installed a different motor. It is an extremely long story that I dont mind sharing but not through this. If you are interested, please email me.

O and you could never have an engine fully rebuilt to this standard and with the parts it comes with for less than 3k. Not even less than 4k I dont think. If you are talking about building it yourself, well, that is different but you must count in how long it will take.

That's quite possible if you pay for the work to be done, and as I said, I don't know if your price is fair. It's entirely possible that it's a great price for the motor.
However, for poor university students like me, my best bet is to do all the work myself

Best of luck to you in selling it.
For your information, I have a receipt in the file for my 951, from 2003. A 65,000 mile engine from an 86 951 was bought for $2300US. Yours sounds much better than this one. The guy I bought it from insists he got a good deal on that 86 engine.

Will you? I thought it was known that the 924 got a Porsche made transmission and is supposed to be stronger then the Audi made tranny that we got. The gearing would be all wrong though.

Quote from Winward's website:
"TECH TIP: Your 944 turbo's transaxle (Manufactured by Audi) cannot tolerate over 350 H.P. (real world) without breaking. Oddly enough, all 924 models have a stronger Porsche-manufactured transaxle."
