I downloaded about 4 hours of Gumball3000 coverage from last year. Pretty darn wild stuff! When I get to a net-worth of $10mil+, I'm gonna seriously consider doing this thing...

Yeah, I have gumball 2003 the movie (usa) and the 6 tv episodes of gumball 2004.. that stuff is crazy... I don't think I'd be hitting 240 like some of them, in the US for godsake... but it would be fun! The citroen c2 or something? old car only went about 60mph top speed, won the europe one in 2004.. A lot of stupid rich people.. but fun to watch!

Oh btw Danno.. it's just a matter of time right? 10 mil's nothin.

The business idea behind this is to besides having one hell of a ride make a film out of it. Personally I would never trust Kimble.

Do you think it is wrong to point out that thses kind of events are illegal and that the speeding going on and considered cool is threatening the lives of innocent?

And is it wrong to point out that the man behind this event has done jail time for insider affairs and was accused of cheating in Gumball?

Agreed, Anders. Like I said, this whole thing smacks of a scam (bare minimum it sounds shady). Yeah, sure, lemmie hand over my GTX2000RTurbo supercar to you to just ship away. Okay, here's $30K USD in advance. My Dad always said it, and I've already said it once; if it sounds too good to be true, it probably IS.

I have been told that this is a big scam. The guy running it is in the business of self-promotion, and has done this sort of thing before. It was recommended that any threads with links to this guys site, mention of his name, and or anything else to do with "The Ultimate Rally" should be locked or removed because he may start spamming the site and its members.

I have already been spammed by his emails, not sure where my info was obtained but I have had no less than 3 emails that made it through my filters. God only knows how many did not and were dumped into my junk mail.

Anyway, anyone willing to throw $12.5K to register for this better be able to afford to loose it.

And there you have it. And Anders did bring up the point of how UNSAFE this sort of crap is.

Now, true road rallies DO exist. We have the Texas Mile for top-speed bomb runs, and there's also that Nevada Rally thing they do once a year in the dessert. Something like 60+ miles of road shut down. The Silver State Classic?? Dunno, but a VERY cool event that is, first and foremost, SAFE for all invovled and unknowing motorists alike.

I've read Broc Yates story about winning the CannonBall back in the day with Dan Gurney or some stud pro driver at the wheel. He and his cronies actually DID use a hopped up ambulance once. Sounded like cool fun, and perhaps in the days when roads weren't as jam packed and our innocence was still intact, it probably WAS a kick in the pants. Today, it's asking for footage of a new "Red Asphalt" driver's ed movie.

lol no cheesy German accent, my German accent is bad though. He is a guy that started a very anti-street racing thread a day or so ago in the turbo forum that caused a lot of niggle...

actually he's been denouncing street racing on rennlist for as long as he's been a member, or at least as long as i've been reading. it's nothing new, and he's right on track. seeing the videos of these gumball runs is like watching a bunch of filthy rich children playing with their grownup toys.
