Wheel Blast?

Wheel Blast?
Hi guys,
Decided against fitting 17"s to my S2 so now I'm faced with refurbishing the originals. They all have paint bubbling. I was thinking of sandblasting the rims to get all the old paint off, however not sure if this will damage them. Has anyone had any experience with this issue?
Cheers.
PS Will post picture of the Porker when I get it back from the mechanic.

Just sand them down. Its tedious but youll get good results. Start with something like 400-600 and go 1000, and finally 1500 or 2000. Quality paint is all in the sanding.
Sandblasting leaves a texture so youll need to sand anyways.

It is indeed somewhat tedious, but not too bad (figure 90 minutes to two hours per wheel, including beer and bathroom breaks). Just take them down to the primer. Alternatively, you might consider sending them out to restoration place. There's one that advertises in the Dupont Registry and only costs about $125 per wheel, including straightening if required. Between the time you save, the much longer lasting finish than what you can achieve with a rattle can, and the free tire rotation (which will extend your tire life a ways), this isn't a bad way to go.
