Default Semi-OT: Shipping 951 parts...

I'm clearing out a few 951 parts and want to know if there are any cheap ways to ship a cat pipe and cat back exhaust separately. The cat pipe alone is considered oversize and shipping is about $70 via UPS. The catback is about twice that price since it's larger... I don't want to cut either piece to make them smaller. Any cheaper yet still reliable shipping alternatives that people have used? TIA

If it's inside the U.S., use greyhound. They're pretty cheap.
You can't ship US to Canada via greyhound, yet you CAN ship Canada to US... weird.

I just recently shipped a cat back piece. Try Fed-ex inside one of the Kinko's stores. They have been being a lot cheaper on the longer items than UPS. Greyhound will not be that much cheaper.

Greyhound bills by longest dimension, instead of volume, but their rates are pretty low, it may or may not be cheaper.

Roger that. And it's not just on the larger items.

The FedEx website is great for calculating shipping rates. On the larger items a 1" difference in carton size can make a huge difference in shipping costs. Measure the part, estimate the carton size & look it up on their website. Once you find a "safe" (affordable) carton size range, locate a carton that size. Auto body shops usually have some nice, large cartons, not to mention some great packing materials.
