In hopes that no one brought this up yet, I wanted to let you guys know there is a great article on the 944 in European Car this month (Feb 2005)!!!
I picked it up at the Airport in Toronto over New Year's, and for 4.99USD it's well worth it!!!
First of all, the cover story is about the 2005 Boxster, which by the way is frickin sweet...but more importantly, there is a TEN PAGE ARTICLE on the 944!!! Including a timeline, buyer's guide, price list, and a case study on building a great track car with comparatively little money (Vision Motorsports 944-Spec Kokeln race car). They even talk about the S2 and Turbo Cabs!
There are two 944's used to illustrate the article, a Champagne 84 944 with colour matched Fuchs and a black 89 951 with polished Club Sports.
Does anyone know either of these guys? Are they on rennlist?
The photos are absolutely stunning. There is also a "Porsche 944 Tuner Guide" at the end, mentioning tons of companies, including 944 Online, KLA, Kokeln, Lindsey, Guru Racing, Paragon, Pelican, SFR, Rennbay and...RENNLIST!!!
Not only this, but they have an ongoing project 951, an article in a series (it's at Part 9, I wish I had 1-8). This month they're upgrading, wheels, tires, anti-roll bars and control arms.
They also have articles on the 2005 VW GTI, the new 255bhp BMW 330i, the 490bhp 2005 Ferrari F430, and the ever-so-sexy BMW Hamann 645Ci coupe and cab.
Here's the site: European Car
On the main site there's an old article on the S2 too!
Thought you'd all like to know...

A special thanks to Steve Krein and Eddie Sakamoto, owners of these pristine Porsches. Krein's 1984 944 is a full concours class winner with 30k original miles. Sakamoto's 1989 944 Turbo took the "Best in Show" award during the recent PCA Concours. With 14k miles on its clock, Sakamoto's car is a genuine 10-pointer.

Actually, that article is riddled with inaccuracies. I am planning on writing the editors with the following corrections:
1. They claim the 1989 944 2.7liter was never sold in the USA. In fact, of the 10593 1989 944 2.7 8-liter cars sold worldwide, more than half (5652) were sold in the USA.
2. The 944 n/a 8-valve never had four piston calipers as they claim.
3. The pre-1989 944 Turbo didn't have the 928 S4 calipers - only the 944 Turbo S and 1989 951S had those units.
4. The last year of importing the 944 Turbo to the USA was 1989, not 1991 like they claim.
There were some other inaccuracies, but those were the top three. Are they really that significant? YES, to a 944 fanatic!

Edited for clarification

Z-Man,
Re: your item #3, Technically they are correct. The 89 model year did come stock with the S4 brakes. As you know the "S" designation was not applied to the 89, yet this model came with all the "S" options. Since you are splitting hairs, a non-S with S4 brakes.

#4 is also technically incorrect.
there were indeed a few 1990 and 1991 944 turbos imported into North America. Almost all of them came to Canada, however.

Glad to see some of you guys picked it up. Daniel, I was pretty sure the 951 guys picked up on that project! I'll have to check out their comments...
J Chen makes a good point though, couldnt he have more power than he's getting?
Haha Travis, somehow I knew you wouldn't miss this one!!!![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
And yeah, reading through I thought there were a couple things that weren't right...the biggest thing for me though is that they have a spread of both cars, one on each page, and they have little inset pictures below the car...well its kinda misleading, they put the 89 951 interior pic below the NA, but every other pic around it is from the NA.![nono](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/nono.gif)
Anyways, it's still good to see our cars get coverage...what are the chances of them getting everything right?
