funny thing in colorado is, the fine and penalty for running plate covers is much greater than that for not displaying the plate. I believe it is a 3point offense for covers.

Try the "rotating license plate" there Mr Bond.

A friend of mine works at a funeral home in Calgary. Families get photo tickets in the mail all the time from going through red lights following funeral processions.

They (the family) have to take the ticket along with a note saying they were in a funeral procession at the time of the photo. What a PITA.

They've even got photos of the family car following a hearse through the intersection.

I saw a audi with a full license plate cover.. it was tinted.. not illegally though.. just
barely.. anyway it had vertical micro slots through the whole thing.. did the same effect
to the whole plate as the one above.

Yep, I've seen the red light camera going off like a strobe light when a funeral procession goes through. It's fascinating to watch.

They're really cracking down on the plate covers here, must be losing a lot of tickets. Same with snow on the license plate.

I've thought about using a scotch bright retro-reflective paint on the white area around the lettering of our alberta plates. The reflection from the flash might just be enough to overload the ccd and obscure the numbers.

Just get a high powered bb gun and go camera hunting late at night.

Travis, I was always toying with an idea like that except mine was to flip the plate via a switch in the cockpit to the big fat finger...! Hey man, if you want to pursue actually foing that, let me know.

Someone could, in theory just get a small can of black spray paint. That would only work for the cameras or strobes that are mounted relatively close to the ground though (some are). Just stroll by as a pedestrian at 3am and as they walk by - pssshhht. Problem solved for at least a month until they figure it out and actually get DPW to get off their lazy asses and fix it.

Not that I'm advocating this, of course. . .

I've heard the reaction of hairspray with the flaky reflective paint in the backround of a licence plate will obscure the picture they take as you speed or run a red or whatever. I employ that method, though I too have fantisized about rigging a motor of some sort to apply and retract a polarized plate to handle the whole problem. Only thing would be If your coming up on a camera speeding that will have to be a real fast running motor to lower the plate in time as we all drive porsches and well...... you know how it goes. LOL

Ive seen this distortion spray in action on a local news channel that tested it out. The general verdict was it worked against photo cops.
