Can we fly the Rennlist flag at half mast?

Whoa!!! That sucks man.

IIRC you just bought that heater? I think if its a brand new unit... You shouldnt be going through insurance, you should be going to a lawer for a faulty product case.

Then after that, off to a dealership for a nice shiny 997

It's about 1 year old. I put it in December/03. Worked pretty well up until now. It never got the engine really warm, but it made starting in -40C feel like starting in -5C, which was good enough for me.

I am definately sending pictures to the manufacturer of the heater. I just need to find the receipt for it.

From what the cops say, they had a hell of a time getting the hood open, they yarded the headlight out, then put the fire out through the hole, then beat the crap out of the hood latch to make it open.
It's pretty destroyed.

Man, it still hasn't sunk in yet. This royally sucks.

Alright, here's some before pics.
First, my nice shiny clean engine bay, after spending a couple hours detailing it.
Then a pic of my car beside my friend's 83 euro 944 in my garage.
Then a pic of my engine bay the day I brought the car home. Notice my nice clear coolant tank?.....

I even had a timing belt inspection hole plug!!!

This makes it look even worse. Man this sucks!

I still cant believe this. Whats nice about canadian insurance companies is that they overvalue the value of 944's. Although this is a ****ty thing to happen it may work out well for you.

I'm sorry to see that, Zero! Especially after seeing how neat and shiny you had the engine bay... At least you are ok, you have another porsche to fall back on, and we're all here for ya. Hope everything turns out well.

Zero10,
That is terrible I hope your insurance will cover, even so you will still have to got through the process of finding another good P-car.
I'm curious though about the lower hose heater as I have no experience with cold weather ops. Was it an aftermarket accessory or is it some kind of factory option 'cause if it is I want to remove mine ASAP.
Regards
Peter

That is terrible but just be glad you weren't inside driving down the road when it happened! I had a fire in a 280Z while driving at 70mph and let me tell you it was not something I care to repeat.

BTW it's phrases like "lower radiator hose heater" that make me glad I live in Atlanta! Sh*t it looks cold up there!
