Unfortunately, there are no direct bolt-on front struts for the late model 944 (86-91 951, 87+ 944) There are only the coil-over front struts like that of the Firehawk and Escort units.

For the rear, there is an HD available: B36-2052

I just put Koni Sports on Jaime's car and she loves them. She finds the ride firm, but not harsh. For brake pads I put Porterfield's in 924 S (basically the same car as yours) and they are quite and give her a excellecnt braking performance she was looking for on the street. Any other questions, drop me a PM anytime! Best wishes - Jay

I've got a lot of experience with the Bilstein HD's, I love em. As I mentioned before, I modify early front strut housings so that I can run them on later cars, its a bolt on job once I am done.

I prefer them by a large margin over Konis, but plenty of folks like the Konis too, so I really think its largely a matter of personal preference.

Regards,

Hmmm, discuss this a little more. What are the Bilstein part numbers you use for this??

Skip,

I have an early 944, can I use the Koni (KONI-8641-1038S) on my car w/o modification? I need new shocks and struts, but I wondering if it's worth the $215 in labor it will take to put them in, or is it easy enough for a DIY project....

Yes, those are the correct strut inserts for the early cars (83-86). The matching rear is the 26-1209S

It's a pretty easy job once you have the equipment to properly remove the springs (spring compressor, wrench/socket for top nut, hopefully an impact wrench.)
