Default Are larger porsche wheels just as light and well made?

Every time I remove my phone dials Im always amazed at how light they are. From the aluminum lug nuts to the phone dials amazing strength its really nice to know porsche didnt cheap out when they made the phone dials. IM wondering if the cup 2's and twists are fairly light as well. Im speaking in relative terms of course because I realize that the twists and cups range in sizes from 17-18 inches

No way you're gonna find anything as good as the stock Porsche wheels. Cast Phone Dials are about 16-17 lbs in 16x7/8" sizes. Forged 1-piece Fuchs are 15.5-16.5 lbs in 16x7/8". Add about 4-6 lbs for the 17" C2 and 5-8lbs for 18" hollow-spoke Twists and 8-10 lbs for 18" solid-spoke Twists. But those aren't forged like the Fuchs, so more material has to be used for the same strength. The only 1-piece forged wheel that's made similar to the Fuchs is the Volk TE-37 in 18" sizes; they're lighter than the Porsche Twists in the same sizes.

The only reason I see to not stick with 16's is aesthetics and the fact that you cant get larger than a 245 tire. I love my 16" enkeis...and I love the fact that the 7's weigh only about 1/2 a pound more than 7" fuchs.

A set of 16x7&8 fuchs are probably the best wheels PERIOD if you dont need a wide tire.

Serge...

Checked out your site, I like the Fuchs. I have a set myself, waiting to be cleaned up and installed. I went in looking for a picture of the enkeis you mentioned though, didn't see them (?)... Maybe I glazed over them. Do you have a picture avail? Thanks!

Enkeis 16x7&8 on 225 front, 245 rear. They are basically BBS clones, but i think minor detail differences make the enkei's look much better. Manufactured in 1982 btw.

Huh, ok. Looks clean. Not what I imagined when I read "enkei", but I suppose the fact that they were made in 82 explains that.

Nope, aluminium... titanium lug-nuts would end up costing you more than the wheel....
