Question Buy 968 in Omaha - PPI Help?

Help 968 ers,

I am a former 964/911/914 guy buying a '93 968 Cab - long distance (Seattle) -from a dealer in Omaha NE. No experience with the Front engine family of Porsches but the 968 is the Porsche choice now. If any of you live there I would appreciate suggestions on Inspection resources there. This is a low - 60k miles car at a Specialty dealer. Was on E-bay and I may try the E-bay inspection service? Or the Porsche Dealer there? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Check the 968 forum here and ask for someone who could do a PPI. Or if you can't find anyone here, i'm sure you can find someone on http://www.968.net/ (check the discussion section).

Though I'd rather refer you to rennlist, I think you'll find better 968 resources (generally) on 968.net

How soon do you need it done? I can see if my wife would be interested in a trip up to Omaha from KC. Its only a couple of hours away, altho I am not in a position to say exactly when we could do it at this point.

Regards,

Thumbs up Thanks - I got it covered!

Thanks all,

As luck would have it - got a call this a.m. from a dear friend who is in Omaha dealing with family issues. She is going to take a "car guy" buddy over to see the 968 tomorrow. Based on their look see I will likely use the Porsche Dealer for a full PPI. Or - If the car is as shown on the Net I may just wait till I get it back to Seattle and pay my trusted Mechanic to give it the once over & change all the fluids. The Dealer faxed me good maint history showing full 60000 mile service tune-up including all belts just 3000 miles back so I think it is a good buy.

I have enjoyed the 964 board for years now and am looking forward to this new community. Thanks again.

I second Larry Anderson...if you can get him to talk, he is a rather quiet fellow!

If not Larry look up Sandy Steckman on PCA site and email Sandy for some help.

With belts being done 3K miles ago, check that they've been retensioned.
