Default Buying 84' 944 w/86' ECU and its chipped.

Good Morning,

Does a ECU/Chipped from a 86' 944 n/a that is put into a 84' n/a make a difference?

Thanks,

probably get you another 5-10 hp. compared to the 84 engine. make sure you use premium unleaded

any idea where the h.p. would be at? low end? mid-range? or top end? I not used to asking about P-Cars since I have always owned Audi's.

thanks.

mostly up high in the upper rpm range. by the way, is the engine an 86 engine? if it's the original 84, i was not aware that the 86 DME (ECU) would be compatible with an 84 engine.

Looked at the past paperwork yesterday and 1 of the pages from a porsche mech. shop in seattle stated it has a 86' custom ECU w/chipped installed.

Ok :P Reading the other responses I thought we were just talking about a DME not a whole car.
Chips in n/as can make it feel different, won't really make much of a hp/tq increase - usually somewhere in the neighborhood of 5hp or so.

It is not nearly as fast as my chipped 5000 turbo quattro but the P-car is a very well balanced car. Just was not sure if that was a feasable thing cus in the Audi world I could not put a different ECU from a later model Audi and not sure what would the benifits would be with a 86' ecu put into a 84' 944 n/a w/chip installed.

thanks

I converted my first 944 (an '84) over using an '86 DME and AFM. Pretty much plug and play.

I ran that car with an Autothority chip and I did notice that the car perfromed better. However, I also learned that installing a test pipe (or running with a gutted CAT) steals some low end torque.

Quick Reply: Buying 84' 944 w/86' ECU and its chipped.
