Default Weird Turn Signal Problem

Every now and then my turn signals on my 87 944 just die. Not flashing sound or no green light they just go out when I go to use them. When it happens I toggle the hazard switch on and off then they will work again. Anyone else have this problem or know what my problem is ?

Could very well be the flasher relay beginning to go out. It can be replaced with a cheap VW generic equivalent available at your local import auto parts store.

Sounds like your hazard switch is beginning to fail. The power for the turn signal circuit goes thru one side of the hazard switch. If that side of the switch does not make contact - no blinkers.

I had a similar problem - now I am waiting for a new hazard switch.

I had a simmilar problem not to long ago. The hazard light relay is the problem it has gone bad. you can get a new realy from a VW dealer for like $30. Or you could go to a generic auto parts store like auto zone or R&S Strauss and get a $10 generic relay that works just fine.

This happened to me when i was at school in Ithaca (No Porsche dealers) but there is a VW dealer. They did not have the part in stock. When i called the auto parts stores they said they did not have one but when i walkein and showed them the relay they had one.

Check grounds as well- a poor ground can be the reason of relay failure.
Relay, stalk, electrical switch/contact problems-- Usually fixed without adding parts.
