Default Bulbs question

I have open beams in my car, I know they use H4's but I am wondering.. 9003ST bulbs looks exactly the same. Are they the same as H4's? I have looked into the tech info on the Sylvania Silverstar and the properties are exactly the same. The reason I am asking is because my mother bought my some new bulbs for X-mas (wrong ones but it's the thought that counts )

The place she got the bulbs from does not have any H4 bulbs in stock nor carries them in H4. (why I have no clue) but they do carry the 9003ST bulb.

Any bulb men out there that can help me out it would be great thanks guys

Steve

if you look at the sylvania h4 bulb closely it says h4 around the base. the 9003st says h4 also. same bulb.

Same bulbs, fits the same lights. Personally, I think the design of the headlight lens and reflector makes a bigger difference than the bulbs. Be sure to make new wiring with relays to get the most out of those bulbs.
