Default $100,000 924???

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...513632456&rd=1

Well, a 924 Carrera GTS at least.

Anyone think this is worth anywhere near the asking price? I suppose its worth whatever someone is willing to pay, but come on! $100K???

Sorry if this is a repost.

I dunno about $100K, but it certainly is an extremely rare collectable. I could see it going for $50K or more - maybe $100K is not out of the question to the right person. . . It'd be like an original 917 or something - very rare, very exclusive. Museum-worthy.

he also has two 924s for sale at 20K + if you check his other ebay auctions.

I love the 924GTS, and is a rare bird, but for 100k there are many other cars I would have in my garage.

Best of luck to the seller, perhaps Jerry needs another car in his porsche collection, after all a 944 Turbo was his first porsche.

He has an 81' with only 53 miles on it. If I had money to throw around I would buy one of them just to have it. All 4 cars he has up for auction look really nice

Makes you wonder. . . If the guy's hard up for cash (why else would he be liquidating) you could probably make an offer a lot less and get the car for it.

Hmm I didn't notice the other 'optimistically priced' P-cars he has up on the block. Maybe the seller has seen the recent influx of interest in FEWC Porsches and thinks now is the time to cash in?

I agree, the Carrera GTS is awesome, I'd love to own one, but for $100K, I'd for damn sure have a 993 Turbo S.

Hey POP, if you can find a 959 for $100k, hock whatever you can to buy it. Then drive it for a while and sell it at market value (~250-300K).

I used to live right down the road from Carquip and while having a very very nice selection of parts for the 924/944 they seemed like 911-snobs to me. Still, they did help me a great deal and I wish that they had these cars when I was still in Colorado!

The GTS is ONLY 1 of 59 and has 37 Kilometers (23 miles)! This is a museum piece and is for a serious collector and most of those guys will have the money. Whether or not he gets $102,000 for it depends if, Whether or not, someone wants it for their collection. This car probably is the lowest mileage GTS in the world and is extremely rare. What is that worth to a Porsche “Concours snob” when he tells his friends “this is the lowest mileage Carrera GTS in the world”? Priceless.

The 1977 Championship Edition (AKA Martini) is a Manhattan Trophy winning car. Tom Scott won the trophy in 1987 with this car. I believe he is the one selling the cars. Despite what the Ebay listing states, Mr. Scott bought the car in 1985 from the original owner. At that time it had just under 7,200 miles. So it has not been driven since the all important trophy was won. I would love to own this car, but it would just sit in my garage and no one would see it.

I know what a Sebring is and what a Production “D” is. However, I do not know what a Sebring production “D” is. They would have to prove this one to me. I think it’s a listing f-up. It looks like a regular Sebring to me. Probably the lowest mileage Sebring in the world. (Again another priceless statment for a "snob")

I do not believe that anyone that would have these cars (there are also other Porsches in the background of the photos) would be “hard up for cash”. I figure it’s an old guy (holding up the hatch on the GTS) selling off the “lesser” bits of his collection before the kids liquidated them on Ebay or trade them in for an H2. Also a proper "snob" does not want to be caught dead with a 924.

What a fine example of Porsche history! Unfortunately, I seriously doubt he will get anywhere near $100,000. Maybe he can pull in $50,000, though.

The Sebring is clearly misrepresented. No such thing as a Sebring D-Production.

The GTS is worth a lot of money. There are others for sale that have serious miles on them and they are commanding 35-50K plus.

I'd say the GTS would be worth $75,000 easy. 1 or 59 in the world, and new for all intensive purposes.

Anyone who pays 100k for that needs to check themselves into a mental institution. Sure it may 1 of only 59 with the lowest miles in the world for its kind...but it's still just a 924, and who could honestly say they would take that over another Porsche costing the same price?
