Default Name that part

I just got my replacement ref sensor bracket in but it is an earlier revision (2R instead of 03). The difference between the two revs as far as I can see is a mounting hole for part number 24. What is part 24...and should it of not been installed on an 87 951?

You got a 944 bracket rather then a 951 bracket. This happened to me after I broke mine and requested a replacement from a local yard. You really don't need the third ref sensor, it is for test only..nobody seems to use it for testing. The two sensor bracket will work on a 951.

Thanks.

Where does the third sensor connect to or is it just a test lead?

The third sensor is a seperate "TDC" sensor that is used for diagnositcs. The sensor connector is notmally maounted to the passenger side lifting eye at the rear of the cam tower.

You can leave this sensor out, but I would recommend finding a suitable rubber plug for the hole.
