I was just wondering if anyone had a gauge cluster for sale with the 180 mph speedometer. I would actually prefer to buy the model from the S2 I believe, with the 180 mph speedometer and no boost gauge. However, that is not a big deal, I am just looking to upgrade the gauges on my '86 from the 160 mph version to the 180 mph version.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I was wondering were you looking for an analog style speedo or could you use a digital. Just because the analog quits at 160 doesn't mean that a digital would. I seem to remember a show recently where a RUF 911 was traveling much faster than the analog gauge could travel and they had to change the camera angle to focus on the digital. Talk about burying the needle. Was cool to see how fast it happened.

The speedo on '85.5+ cars are digital units that runs off pulses from the tranny. The spacing between the pulses tell the speedo how fast the car is running. You can actually print up your own gauge faces if you want; someone posted high-resolution white faces a while back. Then use an electronic device to re-time the pulses to work with any range you want, 0-180mph, 0-200mph, etc. You can get that ratio-adaptor here: http://www.atrol.com/cx_era.htm#era
Also 172mph is common because that's the speed of a 951 at the stock 6500rpm redline; requires only about 255rwhp. With a 7000rpm redline, you can hit 185mph (313rwhp@7000rpm needed).

North Hollywood gauges would calibrate and change the 170mph (270kph) gauges to 180mph (300kpr) gauges for $80+ depends on what is needed, add $30 for the conversion.
