You'd be pretty impressed by the H4 and E-code upgrade with stock wattage bulbs. The Iceshark kit has better lamp housings and upgraded wiring for more wattage, but I find this setup to be much brighter than stock and more than adequate. It's easy to install too, no rewiring or anything.

Oh, Andrew, just pop for the better Cibie lenses to start with. I can get you a set of left hand lane drive lenses and some good standard wattage bulbs for around 150 USD with the shipping down to NZ. I'm doing my best to clean out a Jag dealer that made a mistake and ordered a bunch of "wrong sided" lenses a couple years ago.
To really go the full measure you have to do something about voltage. But since you don't want to do that at this point get the quality lenses .... those you can keep for the life of your car and build off of should you want to do something about voltage and overwatt bulbs.
Edit: I see you have some bulbs you think are pretty good. What I can do is just get you a pair of lenses and ship down via USPS which is pretty cheap. Well, on a relative basis. I just got lenses for some UK guys. You should have opened your mouth earlier and I would have added a set for you in that order.

Yeah they are good bulbs (which means I paid a lot but have no idea really), USPS is the cheapest by far... Opening my mouth is usually not a problem, well sometimes it is!
PS pipes were mild steel also, which meant powder coating was needed! :P
So how much for the pair of lenses delivered?

Can get a pair of Hella E-Code lamps with 60/55 H4 bulbs here for $71.26/pair.
Not bad, but for LHD countries. RHD is usually at least 50% more expensive from what I've seen.
EDIT: You'll probably want the link: http://www.rallylights.com/hella/7in.asp

Don't know about the strain on the wiring, but the '83 n/a I bought recently had just a light swap(no relay/wiring upgrade) to something like the H-4 light/lens combo, and during a hot spell we had a few days ago in SoCal, the combination of lights and a/c brought a bright xmas-like red glow from the alternator idiot light. Swapping to "regular" headlamps, with both lights and a/c I'm only getting a faint hint of light. Might be partially alternator brushes, of course, but obviously these lights pull some juice.

Andrew, it would be $145 USD for 4 to 10 day delivery. The ship over water in a month would knock it down to $130.
ZV, I can't see those Hella lights as I have SpyWare and virus blocking software. My guess at that price is they are the old #70476 lenses. They were superceeded by North America #95098. You don't want the old ones as there was a reason the 95098 was created.

Hmmm well its only a small jump up to the complete kit from $145! I will have to do some more research on the E-codes and what I am getting for my money so I can justify it to myself. I am sure your kit is worth the money, I just need to make sure its what I want and can account for.

Andy,
If you want a 'cheaper' OEM solution then check out Paragon, they got HELLA 7" clear headlights. I believe those are called H4 HID?????? they run ~$50/pair, if you watches 'big john's' videos, and noticed those brighter lights, those are H4 upgraded ones (not sure if they are the same ones as Paragon's units).

Don't go confusing Andrew. The Hella 7" lens that Paragon has listed on their web site are the #70477. That is the DOT "Vision Plus". It is not an E-Code lens, is known in the lighting world as the "Vision Minus" and those are $50 EACH, not per pair. Those are the last lenses he wants to pick. Duct tape a couple big 6 cell MagLite flashlights to your hood before you waste your money on those. And I'm fairly sure they won't pass MOT inspection or whatever they call it in New Zealand.
