OP? you mean overpressure on your boost?

I changed the oil yesterday. For the winter I replaced Castrol 20/50 dino with Castrol 10/30 semi syn. and now at idle the light flickers and almost goes to full on. Then I drained 4 qts. and put in 4 qts. 20/50 with 2 1/2 qts. of the semi syn and it still happens.
Both times it only does it with the oil at full temp.
I was wondering what psi triggered the switch?
Merry Christmas to me, huh?

1.5 bar seems low in my experience.
Do you have a magnetic drain plug? Was there any metal flakes on the plug?
Can you detect any shiney particles in the old oil?
On a brighter side, Perhaps it is just a sensor or sensor contacts problem.

1.5 is low unless the car has been driven hard for long periods.
I myself never got lower than 1.7-1.8bar in summer (120+F, ~50+C) driving REAL hard with a/c on and using Mobil 1 0w-40, try removing the sensor and cleaning it 9internally somehow) or replacing it since it gets all sorts of oil 'gunk' in there?

hi,
for what it is worth a 10w-30 lubricant without a HTHS viscosity of 3.5cSt+ is not a good lubricant in these engines
A better lubricant is a 0w-40 or 5w-40. The oil must be Porsche Approved or at the minimum meet ACEA's A3/B3 quality standards. These viscosities are much better for winter use in your engine
Most OP lights are triggered at 0.5-0.75bar and are sometimes triggered by too low an idle speed
Regards
Doug

I remember reading in the owner's manual that is it normal if oil pressure drops to 1bar after long highway driving in hot weather.
Couldn't confirm this since i lost that manual........

These cars take a little over 6 quarts. My "!" light comes on if the car is a quart low. That may be your problem.
