My 1st car was a 68 SS Chevelle. I was doing engine work so i had the hood off and I had to get up early one Saturday to run my brother into town. I figured I could just put the hood on without the hinges and the hood latch would hold it ok.
Well, we crested this hill at about 60mph and all of a sudden I could see the engine bay! I looked in the rear view mirror just in time to see my hood land in the road behind us and a huge monster truck ran over it. The hood raised completely up and over the car, which was probably a good thing, because I think it would have taken both our heads off.

Geez man I feel your pain! I had a experience in my 85 Camaro that had some hatch issues due to a new front end. Out on a date with my wife at the time and returning from the bar half cocked and ready for trouble when at 11pm at night on the freeway doing 65-70 whe the hood decided to open and what a scary thing to happen! I was lucky enought to be able to see through the bottom of the windshield and hood, about 4 inches to see out.
But the sad thing is I was more afraid and nervous about my paranoid wife giving me hell for it! She is and was the worst co driver ever! One mile too fast and she was screaming....literally!

Well, Rock's pictures make me feel better, mine doesn't look like that. At least I'm not the only idiot lurking among us. Oh, and thanks for the recommendation on SafeLite fellas, there's one about 10 miles away and I've never even heard of it !!
