Depending on where the rev-limiter it set (7200 stock but most guys rev to 8500 on stock motors) you can expect 1st gear is good to 30 mph, 2nd up to 60-70 mph, 3rd to 110-120 mph, 4th to 140-150, and top out 5th near 170-180 with enough boost.

You know what pisses me off more than anything? When someone posts completely inaccurate information as if they know what the hell they're talking about. If you don't know, don't fricking assume anything. I know it's tough but just keep quiet and don't say anything if you don't have anything intelligent & knowledgeable to say.
I have dragged several of my mates EVO's. They are nearing the end of thrid the time I get to the end of second... This is real world experience. I noticed you didnt include the EVO, in your scientific analysis with 10mph ranges on gear speeds. There is no way your figures are right for an EVO. It simply does not do those speeds in those gears. Example, one mate runs 12.1 in his EVO3. He just shifts into 5th on the 1/4 line. His trap speed is consistently 112-113.

And here is an EVO3 stating the factory limited top speed of 112mph. Are we done yet?

Depends on the year. Guts and case vary, but the gear ratios are close.

Let me restate: I am (and have been) referring exclusively to United States Domestic Market vehicles. Talon, Eclipse, Laser, Galant VR4, and Lancer EVO 8.

10mph ranges come from 2000rpm differences in rev limit. For example, I ran my Talon to 9250.

That site is by far one of the worst sources of accurate information.

I am sure its not 100% accurate... perhaps the other reference I posted is not accurate either. But sitting in my mates EVO3 shifting into 5th on the 1/4 line is.

You know, the real problem with arguing with an idiot is that people start to question who's who. NZ goes back on the block list.

Alright

I have been following DSMs for the past few months ALOT. I test drove countless and finally put a deposit down on a 91 TSI AWD. The car just had exhaust and a hacked airbox. Probably 11-13 psi too. The car pulled like a STOCK 951 from a roll (30-110) and from a launch it would have destroyed it (1.5 60' times are easily achieved on street tires) and the 951 would probably begin to pull HARD after 110.

BTW: Rode in my friends 96 GS-T. That thing did 155/158 (forget) bone stock. Was NOT by the speedo too, GPS.

I like the 951 more, but the DSM has better bang for hte buck and if he has a 20G...have fun..

Classic run away example when some evidence is posted, best to pop your head back in the sand.

My friends 2004 Evo does at least 155. I have had it up to 140 easily and it was still pulling hard. Had to shut it down because we were running out of room.
