Biggest problem was the dealers, they did it to themselves. GM had a target of 18,000 GTO's for 2004. The first 5000 or so were sold before they ever arrived in country. So the dealers started jacking the price up, there was a guy in MD on the ls1gto forum that paid over 40k for one. Then they never marketed the car. Throw in the rather bland look from the outside and intrest dropped. You were probably like me, saw the car though....mmmm okay, but we both slipped into the seat and that's what did it to me. Now that they have announced the 05 with the LS2, they are hard pressed to get all the 04's off the lot so they can mark up the 05's just like they did when the 04's came out.

The interior did it for me. I told my wife I would prefer her 4.0 Northstar with 250 hp over the louder, rougher LS1.

Yesterday I was really nervous. I was about breaking cardinal rule number 1 of not buying before the old one is sold. Because I wanted silver I took the gamble. Now I have to sell the Z28, but if I didnt pull the trigger last night I would have been priced out.

I kept saying to myself should I do this with the baby, shouldnt i sell the camaro and get a four door, etc.

But like you said, when I walked into the dealership and looked at the interior of the locked car on the floor all reservations disappeared just long enough to sign the papers.

Is 23,500 and 2.9 for five years motivated enough for you? thats what a guy in new england was quoted today.

Interior is really nice on the GTO, Needs an autodimming rear view mirror though

When are they doing the hood scoops? I drove a 400HP car but no scoops.
Slumming it in an XLR this weekend.

The kicker is that when your three years are up, you'll probably get the chance to buy it out for a mountain less than the residual.

That's motivated man!!

The 05's are advailable with the hood scoops (I thought they all had them actually) There are about 5-6 different fiberglass hoods out there for around $800 anyway that are functional.

I could probably have saved another 1000 but I didnt want to compromise on color. The boss limited me to Blue (not the electric), silver or black, i didnt want a red interior since I hava a type A persoanlity and red induced road rage. or so i heard.

Just picked it up. Drove it over the same road I drove the Z28 thursday nite, and the 944 last week. the ride is much smoother, must be the longer wheelbase, and lack of bilsteins. the seats are phenomenal. my only two complaints so far are a lack of dead pedal and small trunk. give me a few hours i will find some more, that is if I can pry it from my wife who is running errands with the new GTO.

Bet she doesnt know who ronnie or the daytonas are let alone three deuces.

Ethan
on the gm website they dropped the residual the day after i signed. maybe i will be able to get it for the lower residual in three years. if i can maybe i should put mobil1 in it every 4k instead of jiffy lube every 7k. gotta break a 25 year boycott of car washes with this leased baby

Skip shift eliminator, most everyone sells them. I picked mine up from Thunder Racing when I bought my K&N set up. They are about 20 bucks and it isn't GTO specific, same transmission as the vette and newer f bodies. Plugs into the solenoid on the transmission to disable it and onto the harness so it doesn't trigger any codes.
