Acceptable compression numbers???

Altitude and variance between compression testers means that the absolute number, while important, is not as critical as the variance between cylinders.

It sounds like you're in good shape.

These were the numbers on my brothers 84 with about 110k miles on it from the PPI when he sold it to Skoot1027

btw - Tom wanted me to post the results of the compression and leakdown tests from when it was in for a PPI this morning.

my euro was just over 200 on two cylinders after the rebuild... just a bit of trivia I guess.

i just ran the numbers on my 85.5 with 186k and original engine. I tested with the air filter removed, opened throttle and warmed the car for 4 or 5 minutes.

numbers as follows:
1- 177 psi
2- 184 psi
3- 175 psi
4- 173 psi

needless to say I'm pretty happy that the ole girl has still got it.
