Squeaky clutch -- how do you quiet it down?
#16
"The clutch was just installed when I put the engine in. It was a used (but in good shape) S2 clutch and bearing."
Did you replace the pilot-bearing at the end of the crank? Typically squeaking/squealing with the clutch pedal up is a throw-out bearing. You can verify by slightly pushing in the pedal and the sound stops. But if the sound starts as you step down on the clutch pedal and gets worse at the bottom, that's the pilot-bearing. Either one of those bearings going bad would mean a clutch job anyway.
