Question Hesitation when flooring 944S2

Car has around 146K miles. The airflow meter was replaced at 124K. The oxygen sensor is new, and the pesky ignition control module was replaced at around 127K.

Car runs and drives quite well, until I get aggressive and floor the gas pedal. Then it hesitates and feels like I'm squeezing the power out of the car, without it revving as much as it should. I've also noticed the idle will sometimes stay above the 1K mark at around 1100 rpm, and then drop down to about 950 eventually

Usual driver is my father, who seldom revs it past 3K at all.

What other items should I consider checking? DME relay?

I would check the distributor cap & rotar arm, HT leads, fual pump and spark plugs. Those are the main things that cause the symtons your descibing.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Hmm... I'm also getting a slight smell of fuel inside the cabin again. We already had a fuel line replaced last spring that cured the problem until now... Fuel pressure regulator? I haven't noticed any black smoke from the exhaust.
