I need to get my car done this Saturday, and still have a bit to do. Anyone that can come over and help, it would be greatly appreciated. I'll definately provide donuts and coffee to anyone that helps out.
Here are some details:
- Starts at ~9:30 at my house. For those who don't know directions, PM me and I'll send em out. (Cupertino)
- Should take 4 hours or so to get everything done (conservative)
Here's the list:
1. Take out transmission. Crack open case, reassemble properly. (1.5 hours)
2. Put transmission back in (.75 hours - I'm pretty quick at this now)
3. Tension timing belt, tension balance shaft belt. Put Acc. and PS belt back on. (1 hour)
4. Fill with coolant and bleed system (.5 hours)
I'll try to get some more done tonight, but I could really use a helping hand with the tranny buisness. Nothing sucks more than 130 lbs of transmission falling on your face.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The reverse gear plate works fine.
Here's what happened:
1. Took tranny apart - fixed the reverse gear plate.
2. Put tranny back together - no sealant, to put in my car and drive home. The tranny went into all gears, worked smoothly.
3. Took apart the 2 halves again to put sealant in between them.
4. Assembled the two halves.
5. Filled with fluid, Installed into car.
As you can see, in between steps 4&5, there should be "Tested tranny to make sure everything went into gear." Nope, I assumed it went together just fine, filled it with fluid and slipped it into the car. When I hooked up the linkage, it didn't go into gear. So I assume that when I put the two halves together the second time, it slipped into gear, but the linkage remained in neutral. Now the shift interlock pins are locking the transmission and not allowing it engage.
Anyways, by now, it's no big deal to me. Murphy has been reaming me lately, and i've gotten used to it. I can get the tranny out in 20 minutes anyways, so i'm not too dissapointed. I just need to figure out a way to salvage the nice synthetic fluid I put into the tranny.

Dmitry-
I would like to come but i'm 75% sure i cannot. We're getting close to exam period and i think i'll be outlining all day with a friend. However, if i don't end up outlining, i'll be there for sure. And if I do come, i'll bring the 968 to show it off.

Dmitry, I'll try to be there in the afternoon. As you know I've been extremely busy the past few weekends. I bought a Honda for a commuter car for my daughter and still have a few things to do to it to have it ready for her. I did the body work last weekend and still have to buff the paint and clearcoat, replace the L/F drive shalf, remove the radio so I can get the code. I'm hoping to be done by 1:00 pm so I should be able to be there after that.
See you then.

ckathens - Thanks for the offer. I'll PM you my address just in case. Good luck on your exams!
Thanks Efren, I'm going to try to get the tranny squared away tonight, my coworker said he might stop by. I would definately like your help with the t-belt though. Not too confident about that.

I would love to join and (try to) help. However, a friend of mine will be visiting me from out of town, and it'll be rude for me to leave him at home. For reference, he does not drive and is not interested in cars. I cannot believe it myself...
If he makes other plans for Saturday I'll PM you and ask for directions...

Email me your address again to ckathens@yahoo.com . I didn't get it the first time. I may be able to show up for a while in the morning, since i'm going to head down to parts heaven anyways... and i gues that's only 30 mins from you.
