Question

Many thanks for posting the article. Nice cars, by the way.

Having driven once a '93 968 Lux I would not tend think a 968 is an upgrade to the S2 performance wise, especially considering the 6 speed gearbox that, IMHO, does improve neither drivability nor enjoyment. I remember driving the 968 required more concentration for the gearshift as I ended up shifting up and down almost all the time. The S2/968 engine has enough torque to perform very well with "only" 5 speeds, IMHO.

PS : just a little error in the article, re the springing. Basic suspension specs of the two models show that the springs are stiffer on the 968 (28 N/mm against 23.8 N/mm for the S2) and not the same, as mentioned.

alex - nice car.

the magazine really downed the S2. i thought it was supposed to be a porsche magazine. i really like the S2, and agree with the post that it looks a little more bare bones. i guess with time comes progress, and the new becomes old and less desirable.

heck, i'd love to have a 968 though. in fact, once i get my 944S repaired and back on the road and get a little track experience, i may have to trade it in for a 968 track car. mmmmmm......two 3.0 L 4-valve engines with 240 hp in my garage. now that would be nice......
