Dont get too excited, the 650 dollar one needs about 300 bucks in work to fit worth a sh*t. I have seen three and none of them fit without a lot of work. One guy did have a 968 intercooler duct (kinda) molded into his and it was HOT HOT HOT.

I think Andy's hood seemed to fit nicely. He hasn't painted it yet so it doesn't show that he had to do any body work to it. It came from rennlist sponsor The Racers Group. It cost somewhere around $800 IIRC. I don't see it on their list of products on their website, so it must be a "call" kinda thing.

The only ones I have seen came from GT racing. Additionally, you should really have hood pins for them, which kind of looks like a** on a street car, IMHO.

I already talked to racers group.

944 Fiberglass (fits all 944's) $479.99
Carbon Fiber $634.99

I don't think CF would look the best with a guards red car. Also from looking at andys car it seems that hoodpins are not needed.

Yeah, Andy's price he gave me may have included shipping.

He does have a factory hood latch on his, no pins.

I think Matt's point is a safety issue regarding the pins. Even the 944 cup cars that had CF hoods had the factory hood latch AND pins. There could be a concern with the mounts for the latch pulling thru the CF somehow and the hood flying up in "Rock" fashion.

(ouch, sorry Rock!)

You could paint the CF!

I have personally seen a hood that was damaged exactly the way Tifo describes on track. I can assure you, when it was repaired, it had hood pins

FWIW, we are getting raped on these hoods. You can buy a CF hood for an E39 5 series (which is about 2 times as much hood area) for less than 500 bucks. I will grant you the market is bigger but there arent THAT many guys who want a CF hood on their grocery getter.

I know this may seem ricer, but I think it would be cool to get a CF hood, paint it guards red, and leave a small triangle area in on of the front corners the exposed naked CF.

If the Racers Group made the CF hoods with the recessed pin areas like the cup cars, that would be sweet. Then the hood pins wouldn't look so bad on a street car, IMHO.

I am pretty sure that RG is selling GT-Racing hoods. I dont know that for a fact but a call to RG would clear it up.

I am going to work with Damian to have one laid. If the CF is not vacuum bagged (and it wont be for 500 bucks) it wont have that shine to it, you will have to clear coat it. The CF hoods I have seen have been on black cars and the owners painted the outside of the hood (to hide the terrible lay in the weave) about 1", it looked fabulous.

Funny thing about that avatar. That is an actual warning label on a product. I saw it and just had to take a photo of it.
