Not sure what you are doing but the only allen head (hex) bolts in the calipers hold the halves together and you do not want to take those out!

If you are changing pads use pliers to squeeze the clamp and release it. The spread old pads, remove them insert senors in new pads and put it all back together.

If you are changing rotors there are a couple of 17mm bolts holding each caliper on. You will need a long ratchet and a lot of force to get them loose. Then there are 2 philips head screws holding each rotor on. You probably will not be able to remove these with a screw driver. You need an impact driver but a screw driver bit in a drill worked for me. I replaced these with new screws I purchased at Car Quest intended for similar use in some Honda.

There are two more allen head bolts on each caliper holding the steel end-plates in place. Doesn't sound like what the original question was about though.
