Yowza. I was parking mine just the other day and there were leaves piling up in the gutter...thought to myself...I probably shouldn't get far enough into those that the exhaust headers touch the
leaves.
I think I'll remember that real well now.

Brian: I am glad that you and your wife got out of there before getting hurt yourself. Good luck on the replacement/upgrade. I am sure you'll have a new toy soon.
Regarding FE's: I've got TWO in my car. I regularly check for adequate pressure in both - what good is a FE if it won't work?!?

I have found out on the way to Mississippi before in my friend's blazer that cans of rootbeer work also. I can't speak for other brands, but I know Barq's works great!

Brian,
As another member of the "gotta buy a fire extinguisher club" I'm just happy (like everyone else) that you are OK. Seeing pictures like that can really put a twist in your gut. Your car sounds like it was very nice, and it is too bad that it is gone. But, each door closed is another opened. There is another P-car out there somewhere with your name on it.
In the meantime, Tom is right, you may be in for a struggle with the insurance and I wish you the best for that. Remember to come back here for advice if you need it though.
Take care.

Brian,
Definitely send me a PM with your email. Glad I can repay the debt I owe you, sorry it is under these circumstances.
Your first step is to itemize the things you did to your car. Item, date, mileage, cost.
Next step is to decide how much you would have sold the car for. Not what you could get, but what you would have sold it for. That is the $$ goal. If their offer is more than this figure ignore the rest of this post.
After you itemize the goodies in your car we can draft a questionnaire for guys on the board.
When you see my spreadsheet you will see how I used the information from the questionnaire.
Also, print out recent final ebay sales. Now the cool thing. Insurance companies cant tell you someones asking price is no good. Look through the classifieds, panorama, etc. clip the ads for cars you like.
The fun is just beginning. It is a long row to hoe.

Sorry for your loss.
To all, there is a guy on ebay who sells halon fire extenguishers for cheap. I picked up a 5 pound one for like 50-60 bucks a year ago. He sells them all the time.
later,
John

I know there is just a few days left but...
In case anybody is interested, you can get 10% off on halon extinguishers until November 19 by going to http://www.h3r.com/products/home_vehicle.htm and following these steps:
Select the product(s) you want to buy
Click on the "checkout" button
Click on the "Redeem Coupon" link
Type "Halon" in the "Offer number" field
Click the "Redeem Coupon" button.
H3R has cool chrome units and even less expensive reconditioned models.
