Default Can I Put a Turbo on my '77 924?

I searched for putting turbo on 924 and no luck so...Could I put a turbo on my 2.0 4?I want the extra power and the coolness factor. What would I need to do it?Is there any ballpark figure on how much horse I would be running afterwards? The engine is stock btw.(Car is a 1977)Would the bottom end need to be built up?Top end?

Thanks,
Ron

It is possible, but it will likely cost you as much or more than what it would cost to sell your car, and buy a 944 turbo... And you wouldn't end up with the turbo's suspension....

Supercharging is a lot easier, and possible, but still very costly. Some have supercharged 924's.

Did you read the newbie charter? There may be an answer to that in there.... This question will get flamed, just a warning

May as well get ready for it. Everyone will tell you NO. And they are right. Of course with unlimited money....balh...blah...blah....you get the drift.

Ther other comment you will get is "Why not just sell it and buy a 951" - That's right too, again with unlimited money, etc. There is a reason you're driving a 924 in the first place and it usually doesn't involve unlimited budget. IMHO.

It's been a while since we got any of these "Can I turbocharge my N/A" posts.

I think you should:

1: Log off Rennlist
2: Put on a set of Nomex underwear and a flame retardent suit
3: Log back on and check this thread.

Ron,

There was an aftermarket turbo kit made for NA 924's. Occassionally you will see one on EBay and the for sale forum of www.924board.org .

BAE and Windblown both offered turbo kits for the 924 n/a in the 80s. Sometimes the BAE kits pop up here and there. Check ebay, and check it often. They pop up once every 6 months or so. Windblown supposedly only released 4 kits, and I unfortunately missed out on the auction. BAE had quite a bit more.

Before everyone posts "No," how about you do some more research on the cars? I'm sick and tired of people posting on 924 threads and not knowing what they're talking about. A 924 IS NOT THE SAME AS A 944.

Swapping in a 931 engine (924 turbo) shouldn't be that big a deal, I would leave a 931 engine fairly stock though as any mods would find the other weak links in the drivetrain rather quickly (clutch, trans, brakes etc.). The early 924 is NOT the same as the 944 NA, it is much simpler so some mods (like a 931 swap) would be easier but it was not intended to have much power so there are a lot of parts that could have issues with added power.

If you really want to do it I have a 931 I would sell you.....CHEAP... It has no interior, but just about everything else. I have too many projects at the moment and I don't want to let this sit here and rot. So if anyone else wants it let me know... I just don't have enough money/time for all these projects
