Now if only I have proper photoshop style illustrations, I would be making Danno proud.

A SPOILER, as is found on our 944s, 951s and yes, even the 968's, are NOT really wings, and they DO NOT generate any downforce. The cross section of a car is much like that of a wing, and that is why cars generally get floaty at high speeds. The rubber spoilers on our cars, and even the glassfibre bridge spoilers do not actually provide any lift. Just like the 911's RS ducktail and whaletail, they merely DESTROY lift generated by the car's body, and prevent downward flowing air at the rear of the car from generating a downwash causing lift on the rear end.

So it's true

Take the Audi TT. After an accident supposedly concerning rear handling issues??!! all TT's were recalled and a silly little lip was put on the back. This I think was more to cover their (Audi) bottoms I think! Any thoughts?
Rich, I'm on red wine. Cheers mate, and my wife is a (studying) psycologist and experiments on me regularly, therefore have built a brick wall to suggestive influence.

The AudiTT issue was simply a matter of the body being a wing and creating lift. At higher speeds, the lift on the car was enough to seriously upset the handling. The little ducktail they added acts exactly like a spoiler does on the wing of an aircraft. It prevents the airflow from continuing down the rear end of the wing. It does NOT create any downforce - it simply prevents body lift. And yeah, if was a safety recall as far as I know. Liabliltiy issues.

Mmm red wine. not sure if we have any of that in the house. I think I have some martini rossi stashed somewhere..

I'm not flying for anyone at the moment. I'm re-evaluating my career plans... I want to fly but not if it means working for peanuts for the next few years and giving up my p-car. I'm more leaning towards buying my own floatplane at the moment. (and eventually my own aerobatics plane..)

I'm in the hospitality industry at the moment, living at home and saving $$$$.

With all the money people spend in ricey body mods, think how many track days could have been paid for and how much suspension/brake work could have been done!

Talk about sleeper! The car and driver would be faster and safer and not look tacky!
