Hans, we know where he is but heDID ask the question to a board populated with 95% US members
Further, since the Optimas are gel cell they can be shipped.

Lots of specs in that link, but no weight.
Batteries in Europe are sold dry, and you must add about a liter of the acid, which then makes them extremely heavy. -Thanks.

Duralast from Autozone are the same as Diehards (Johnson controls) and they're about $30 less and have an extra year on the warranty. Best deal for me. I'll probably be getting one soon, since it looks like my old Diehard is about to die.

Bryan: Thanks for the lead. Did you have any problems with sulfurization or reverse current/loss of charge? And does it really work? I am parking outside and can't run a normal plug-in charger out to the car. Battery is relatively new (8 months) but I wanted to give it some help during the harsh winter... any advice would be great. Thanks! Chase

Luis, sorry, I will find out. I want to say they are probably in the 35lb range.

Luis, I spent some time in a Johnson Controls plant in Ft Wayne,IN. I work for a trucking company that does 90% of their transport. They make many different kinds of batteries including Optima and Interstate. Here in the midwest they are a major supplier to Sears, Advance, Autozone, Interstate Battery, Pep Boys, etc. Most of the batteries are made the same, but a different label on them. The only exception being Interstate and Optima because of the different casings. They get the empty black casing, fill with acid, charge, label, and ship them out. I don't know much about the Optimas or how they make them though. All others at that plant were made exactly the same with the only difference being the label.

SOme of you guys are nuts.....I have heard very bad things about those Optima betteries, especially if you have a nice sound system.....I have been using the same exact battery in my 944, Golf, and Jetta for about 3 yrs now, and I have never had a problem....Believe it or not all 3 cars use the exact same battery...And from where do I buy it...Well Walmart of course....Costs about 50 bucks....And I swear by these batteries....Because if you go atleast 3 yrs without your battery going dead in this dam state during winter, you have a good battery in my taste......Why spend big bucks on a battery....It is not needed...And if you have a high wattage sound system then buy a capacitor.....
My advice....
