![Question](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I did a little search and haven't been able to find anything on this topic. In my 1983 944, when I turn on the lights w/ the switch, Fuse #12 on the central fuse board blows. This is the fuse that controls the interior light, glovebox light, ashtray light, and the instrumental panel light. I've popped two fuses in there (8 amperage) and both have blown as soon as I've turned the lights on.
Any ideas or starting points?

There is a possibility the dash lights are shorted to the head lights lights.
The dimmer for the dash lights generates quite a bit of heat, and over time the plastic shell that holds all of the connector pins warps/melts. My bet is you need to replace the switch/dimmer.

Cliff-
Thanks for the advice. This probably makes sense, as I replaced the switch/dimmer to match the new black dash I just put in a few weeks ago. I guess I picked up a bad one from partsheaven.
