Unhappy Help: Windows Will Not Go Up

I rolled my windows down and 10 minutes later they will not roll up. There is no activity from either window, completely dead. I checked fuse #4 and it is fine. This is definently an electrical issue as opposed to mechanical failure, any ideas? I suppose it could be the relay? Thanks for any suggestions, this is my daily driver so any help is greatly appreciated.

Nope, windows still won't go up. What is the likelihood that the relay went bad. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

Stahlblau, you said that the relay for the windows is "under the dash by the throttle." I thought the only relay was in the fuse panel under the hood, my car is an 1986. If there is a relay under the dash what am I looking for exactly. Thanks for your time. This evening I will pull the switches and see if I can bypass them and/or clean them.

Oh yeah try switching the driver and passenger window switches on the drivers door. If the driver goes bad, then the passenger window wont go up becasue theyre connected somehow. I remeber Socal Driver saying something about that. Try that first, its worth a shot.

My guess is the relay. Relay should be under the hood in the fuse box on the 86's and up. Look at the owners manual for location slot/relay no.
Had same problem and both windows getting stuck up in the summer and I had no AC. New relay solved the problem. USUALLY all three switches will not go bad at the same time.
My relay was fine when engine bay was cold, then acted up as the relay got warm from use combined with the heat of the engine. See if anyone in town with an 86 up would be willing to stop by and swap relays.
Good luck.

the relay is number G7, pull it out and connect terminals 30 and 87 on the relay board with a jumper wire and see if the windows work. The part no for the relay is 944 615 116 00.

Good luck

Thanks fellas, it was the drivers side switches. I pulled both, cleaned them and all is well.

My window wouldn't go up, and it turned out to be the window regulator gearbox. The gearbox case was cracked and it would flex and bind. I took off inner the door panel and was able to get it to go up with a push from the bottom. Since it only bound when the window was all the way down I drove it, using the 3/4 open window method, while waiting for the new regulator to arrive. Paragon can get them. --Roy--
