Default Installing "Pulled" Engine

The cam tensioner chain let loose on my 944S a couple of months ago. I picked up an engine off eBay that has 69k miles. The engine looks to be in good shape but the owner did not have a complete set of maintenance records. There are no visible oil, antifreeze, or power steering fluid leaks. I was planning to install new or move from my previous car the following parts:

- Engine mounts
- Water pump
- Timing and cam belts, rollers, and associated miscelleous parts
- Distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and spark plug wires
- Two large lower radiator hoses
- Coil

Any comments or suggestions as to additional parts I should replace would be greatly appreciated.

oh no, another 944S down. i hate to see that.

click on my link in my sig to see my 944S rebuild. my recs on things to replace with the engine out:

rod bearings at least
oil pan gasket
clutch if you can afford it
upper gasket set (fairly easy)
control arms - either purchased rebuilt or DIY ball joint rebuild units. i got mine from rennbay. nice kit.

ummm, what else? i think that's about it. maybe some of the vacuum and coolant lines that are easy to access with the engine out.

did you purchase another S engine or a simple 8valve 2.5L N/A?

What was your previous car?

Had you ever checked the tensioner pads? I'd do that on your new motor.

Clutch < and all that related stuff, reseal injectors, new intake/exhaust gaskets, new vaccum hoses (wish I would have done that), rear main seal, I think thats everything including whats already been mentioned, do all that and your good to go for quite a few more miles!!
Seriously, now is a GREAT time to do the clutch if you are debating doing that, don't wait!

I just go ahead and tell you that the best things I have found, personally, are brake clean, and castorol super clean, or purple dragon, but we'll see what joseph used!
oh be sure not to get the brake clean on any rubber!

i used my machine shop

seriously, most of the cleaning was done at my machinist, but the stuff i did here at home was accomplished with a combination of brake cleaner and Berryman's carb cleaner.

The 944S is the only 944 I've owned.

I was going to change the tensioner pads along with the belts.
